Health/Prevention of HIV/AIDS

AIDS is considered as the world’s silent killer disease. Current HIV prevention coverage is extremely low. Only a fraction of people at risk of HIV exposure have meaningful access to basic prevention services. AIDS threatens economic security and development because it primarily strikes the working-age population. This has implications for survival of communities and enterprises as well as long term maintenance of productive capacity. The organization is strictly concentrated on HIV/AIDS awareness and more concentration is given in encouraging health care workers. Health care workers need to be sensitized to the effects of AIDS, so they can provide non-stigmatizing care. But awareness is needed because AIDS also adversely affects uninfected patients’ quality of care.

TAMOHA is conducting various awareness programs on HIV/AIDS and Health Mela which included various departmental services of health for the people of remote areas. Various awareness programs were conducted in West Delhi, Rajasthan and Karnataka. We have more concentrated on giving awareness to the young generation because they are more at risk of HIV/AIDS. Knowledge and information are the first lines of defense for young people. We have taken bold steps with the like-minded organizations, to address the AIDS information needs of young people, but this education/awareness is still far from universal. So more concentration should be given and we wish to extend programme all over India.
